The U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs estimates that 900,000 veterans and their dependents utilize veteran education benefits each year (VA, 2020). In addition, the VA reports that 62 percent of VA students identify as first-generation. Veterans, military students, and their dependents are a unique population that require specialized support and guidance.
